Θέμα: Ψήφισμα προσφύγων ἐκ τῶν κατεχόμενων Δήμων
καί Κοινοτήτων ἐπαρχίας Ἀμμοχώστου

Μακαριώτατε, Εξοχότατε,

  Σύσσωμος ὁ προσφυγικός κόσμος τῆς πόλης καί ἐπαρχίας Ἀμμοχώστου μέ ἐπί κεφαλῆς τόν Ποιμενάρχη μας, Πανιερώτατο Μητροπολίτη Κωνσταντίας καί Ἀμμοχώστου κ. Βασίλειο, ἐκφράζουμε στό σεπτό πρόσωπό σας καί δι΄ ὑμῶν σέ ὁλόκληρο τόν ὁμόδοξο λαό τῆς Ρωσίας τίς θερμές μας εὐχαριστίες γιά τή συνεχή καί σταθερή ὑποστήριξή σας στό ἐθνικό μας πρόβλημα.

 Δυστυχῶς γιά 38 συνεχόμενα τώρα χρόνια ἐξακολουθοῦμε νά ὑπομένουμε τίς συνέπειες τῆς βάρβαρης τουρκικῆς εἰσβολῆς τοῦ 1974. Μέ τήν κατοχή τοῦ βόρειου τμήματος τῆς Κύπρου, ἡ Τουρκία ἐκδίωξε μέ τή βία 142.000 Ἑλληνοκύπριους, τό ἕνα τέταρτο τοῦ συνολικοῦ πληθυσμοῦ τῆς Κύπρου.

 Ὅλοι ἐμεῖς ἐξαναγκαστήκαμε νά ἐγκαταλείψουμε τά σπίτια καί τίς περιουσίες μας καί νά καταφύγουμε στίς ἐλεύθερες περιοχές τῆς νήσου. Ἔκτοτε παραμένουμε πρόσφυγες στήν ἴδιά μας τήν πατρίδα.

 Ἐπίσης μιά ἄλλη σοβαρή συνέπεια τῆς κατοχῆς τῆς Κύπρου ἀπό τόν τουρκικό στρατό εἶναι ἡ βεβήλωση καί ἡ καταστροφή τῶν Ἱερῶν Μονῶν καί Ἐκκλησιῶν μας στό κατεχόμενο τμῆμα τῆς νήσου. Ἐκκλησίες ἔχουν κατεδαφισθεῖ πλήρως, ἄλλες ἔχουν μετατραπεῖ σέ μουσουλμανικά τεμένη, ἄλλες χρησιμοποιοῦνται ὡς κέντρα διασκεδάσεως, ἀλλά καί ὡς στάβλοι ζώων, τουαλέτες ἤ ἀποθῆκες. Ἀρχαῖες εἰκόνες, τοιχογραφίες καί ψηφιδωτά ἔχουν καταστραφεῖ ἤ ἔχουν κλαπεῖ ἀπό Τούρκους ἀρχαιοκάπηλους.

 Μέ πολλή λύπη ὅμως διαπιστώνουμε, ὅτι τό πρόβλημα τῶν προσφύγων τῆς Κύπρου, ὅπως ἐπίσης καί τό ζήτημα τῆς καταστροφῆς τῆς πολιτιστικῆς καί θρησκευτικῆς μας κληρονομιᾶς, ἔχουν οὐσιαστικά διαγραφεῖ ἀπό τά θέματα συζήτησης τῆς διεθνοῦς κοινότητας καί παραδίδεται στή φθορά τοῦ χρόνου καί τῆς λήθης. Γιά τό λόγο αὐτό ἀπαιτεῖται ἡ ἀνακίνηση τοῦ θέματος σέ διεθνές ἐπίπεδο, ὥστε νά ἐπανέλθει ὡς πρόβλημα πού χρήζει ἄμεσης καί δίκαιης λύσης.

 Μακαριώτατε, Εξοχότατε,

 Μέ τό παρόν ψήφισμα, μεταφέροντάς σας τήν ἀγωνία τῶν προσφύγων τῶν κατεχομένων Δήμων καί Κοινοτήτων τῆς ἐπαρχίας Ἀμμοχώστου, ἀλλά καί ὅλων γενικά τῶν προσφύγων τῆς Κύπρου, σᾶς παρακαλοῦμε νά συμβάλετε μέ τήν προσωπικότητα καί τήν ἰσχυρή φωνή τῆς διαμαρτυρίας σας, στήν προώθηση τοῦ δίκαιου αὐτοῦ αἰτήματός μας. Ὡς πρόσφυγες Ἕλληνες Ὀρθόδοξοι Χριστιανοί αὐτοῦ τοῦ τόπου ἀπαιτοῦμε τήν ταχεία ἐπάνοδό μας στίς πατρογονικές μας ἑστίες, στά σπίτια, τίς περιουσίες μας καί στά ἱερά προσκυνήματά μας.

 Εὐχαριστώντας σας καί πάλιν γιά τή συνεχή καί ἀμέριστη συμπαράστασή σας, ἀσπαζόμαστε τήν τιμία δεξιά σας.

Subject: Resolution by the refugees of the occupied Municipalities and communities of the district of Ammochostos

Your Beatitude, your Excellency,

 The entire body of refugees of the city and district of Ammochostos, led by their Pastor His Eminence Metropolitan of Constantia – Ammochostos, Vasilios, wish to express to your venerable person, and through you, to the entire Russian people our warm thanks for your continued and consistent support as regards our national problem.

 Unfortunately for 38 continuous years we continue to endure the consequences of the barbaric Turkish invasion of 1974. With the occupation of the northern part of Cyprus Turkey expelled by force 142.000 Greek Cypriots, one quarter of the total population of Cyprus. All of us were forced to abandon our homes and properties and flee to the free areas of the island. Since then we remain refugees in our own country.

 Furthermore another serious consequence of the occupation of Cyprus by Turkish troops is the desecration and destruction of our Holy Monasteries and Churches in the occupied area of the island. Churches have been totally demolished, others have been turned into mosques, others used as entertainment clubs and others as stables for animals, toilets or store rooms. Ancient icons, frescoes and mosaics have been destroyed or stolen by Turkish antiquities smugglers.

 With great sadness we note that the problem of the refugees of Cyprus and the question of the destruction of our cultural and religious heritage have virtually been eradicated from the subjects being discussed by the international community and have been surrendered to the deterioration of time and to oblivion. It is for this reason that we request that this issue be put once again onto an international basis so that this problem can be immediately dealt with and a just solution be found.

Your Beatitude, your Excellency,

 With this resolution and by conveying to you the concern of the refugees of the occupied Municipalities and Communities of the district of Ammochostos and more generally all the refugees of Cyprus, we would like to appeal to you to contribute with your persona and your powerful voice of protest in the promotion of our just cause. As refugees and Greek Orthodox Christians of this land we demand our rapid return to our ancestral homes, properties and holy shrines.

 Once again we would like to express our thanks for your continuous and full support; we kiss your right hand with respect.
